Both of these models are two-row SUVs, so they each have room for five people. The 2023 BMW X3 is a little bit bigger than the 2023 BMW X1, but it's not a huge difference. Most adults can still sit in the back row comfortably.
The BMW X3 has the advantage on total cargo space as well, maxing out at 62.7 cubic feet with the back row folded down. Fold down the second row of the BMW X1 and you end up with 57.2 cubic feet of room.
Engines
The 2023 BMW X1 comes equipped with a potent 2.0-liter turbo engine that puts out 241 horsepower. That goes a long way in a smaller crossover like this one.
The 2023 BMW X3 offers multiple engine options. Its base models max out at 248 horsepower, but the BMW X3 M40i ups the ante to 382 horsepower. Then the top trim level, the BMW X3 M, maxes out at an incredible 503 horsepower.
Technology
Both of these models offer a great selection of technology and driver assistance features. The available Live Cockpit Professional system includes augmented reality tech and a head-up display, and large instrument panels and displays make it easier to keep track of vital information.
