It’s no secret why BMW M Performance® pulls ahead on the road and the track. But the manufacturer recently proved it once again at the WeatherTech® Raceway Laguna Seca track, with BMW M® models taking both third and fourth place. For those who want a replay of these legendary finishes, BMW of Fort Washington has the story.

BMW at the Races

The 2025 IMSA Monterey SportsCar Championship took place at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca track this May, and BMW was in full force at the event. Belgian driver Dries Vanthoor and Austrian driver Philipp Eng drove car #24, a BMW M® Hybrid V8, maintaining a lead during the first 50 minutes. Car #25 was also a BMW M® Hybrid V8, driven by German Marco Wittmann and South African Sheldon van der Linde.

BMW at the Finish Line

These four BMW drivers are some of the finest currently behind the wheel, and that’s reflected in their placements. Vanthoor and Eng took car #24 through its paces, and after overcoming a last-minute spinoff, they clutched third place after driving for two hours and forty minutes. Wittmann and van der Linde held their own in car #25, placing fourth after starting from sixth place.

BMW in Your Driveway

While BMW M® is a mainstay at IMSA events, it’s also available in street-legal form. Take the BMW M5, for instance, which features an impressive BMW M® Hybrid TwinPower Turbo™ V8 engine that generates 717 horsepower. With standard BMW M® xDrive® AWD and a zero to 60 MPH rating of 3.4 seconds, it has the power you need for any occasion.
