There are certain terms and limitations you should always be aware of when you sign a BMW lease. Here at BMW of Fort Washington, we always do our best to make sure that our customers are fully informed before they drive off in their new luxury car, so here's a look at some of the things that you should never do in your leased vehicle.

Make Car Care an Afterthought

When you turn in your car at the end of your lease agreement, the dealer expects some wear and tear. However, if your vehicle looks like it has really been through the ringer you could end up on the hook for extra fees due to excess wear and tear.

Proper car care is the best way to prevent damage and excess wear. Stick to a routine maintenance schedule, don't put off service appointments, and keep your new BMW car clean.

Pay For Custom Parts and Accessories

Many lease agreements won't let you add your own parts and upgrades to your vehicle. You don't own it after all. Even if a lease does let you install accessories or performance parts, you probably shouldn't.

If you're turning in your vehicle, you don't get those upgrades back. You also don't get any credit for “enhancing” the value of your car or anything like that. If you love to modify your vehicle, buying a vehicle is probably better for you.

Go Over the Mileage Limitations

A lease limits how much you can drive, normally to around 12,000 to 15,000 miles per year. If you think that you're going to go over that limitation, a lease might not be ideal for you. Going over that limit means extra fees when you turn in your BMW car.
